Launches New Web Site for Schwinn Bicycles Vernon Hills, IL, April 03, 2002 -- PurMedia, Inc. a Web design and development corporation in San Diego, CA, has launched a new online presence for Schwinn Bicycles. For over a century, Schwinn Bicycles have cemented their brand in the marketplace and gracefully supplied their consumers with the ride of a lifetime. The first was to seamlessly extract the Schwinn Bicycle brand from its previous Web site, Schwinn.com, and develop an independent online presence of Schwinnbike.com. The second was to develop a self-managing Web application that would allow Schwinn to conveniently manage their online bike catalog without the expertise and skill level of a Web designer and/or programmer. PurMedia simultaneously supported the previous infrastructure of IBM’s Net.Commerce eCommerce solution and transferred and extracted the appropriate data and information from the proprietary system to execute the objective. On the new Web site, www.schwinnbike, visitors can view Schwinn’s new 2002 bike catalog, download owners manuals, take a short questionnaire to discover ‘The Right Bike For You’, and participate with other Schwinn enthusiasts in various forums. In conjunction with what users are viewing, the staff at Schwinn has the capability to virtually manage the majority of the Web site through custom Web-based applications, a PurMedia trademark, which enables Schwinn site administrators to update bike information, promotions, press releases, moderate forums and various other tasks. “PurMedia has been an integral component in the development and overall success of Schwinn Bicycles’ online presence. Their guidance and direction, stemmed from their industry experience, has allowed us to become increasingly efficient in our day-to-day efforts by providing us the ability to maintain the Web site internally without any programming experience.
